About Tour
The Red Tour + Underground City is a popular excursion in Cappadocia that allows visitors to explore the region's natural and historical wonders. The tour is a full-day adventure that covers a lot of ground, making it an ideal way to experience the highlights of Cappadocia in a short period.
-KAYMAKLI UNDERGROUND CITY:
Explore one of Cappadocia’s largest and most complex underground cities. Featuring multiple levels of tunnels, storage rooms, kitchens, stables, ventilation shafts, and ancient living quarters used by local communities for protection.
-UCHISAR CASTLE VIEWPOINT:
Begin your adventure with a panoramic view from the Uçhisar Castle Viewpoint, the highest point in Cappadocia. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, fairy chimneys, and volcanic rock formations. Your guide will provide insight into the strategic importance of Uçhisar Castle and its historical role in Cappadocian life.
GOREME OPEN AIR MUSEUM :
From the 4th century AD to the 13th century, the region was densely populated by monastic life. Churches, chapels, refectories, and living spaces are found within almost every rock block. Today's Göreme Open Air Museum is considered the site where the monastic education system was initiated. So?anl?, Ihlara, and Aç?ksaray are later locations where the same education system was implemented. The churches in the Göreme Open Air Museum were painted using two different techniques. The first is painting directly onto the rock surface by smoothing it, and the second is painting on rock using secco (tempera) and fresco techniques. The subjects depicted in the church wall paintings are drawn from the Torah, the Bible, and the life of Jesus. The Göreme Open Air Museum houses the Girls' and Boys' Monasteries, St. Basil's Church, Elmal? Church, St. Barbara's Church, Y?lanl? Church, Malta Haçl? Church, St. Catherine's Church, Karanl?k Church, Çar?kl? Church, and Tokal? Church.
-AVANOS POTTERY DEMONSTRATION:
Head to the charming town of Avanos, renowned for its centuries-old pottery tradition. Watch a live pottery-making demonstration by skilled local artisans using ancient techniques on a traditional kick wheel. You'll also have the chance to try your hand at creating your own ceramic masterpiece or shop for unique handmade souvenirs.
-DEVRENT VALLEY ( IMAGINATION VALLEY ):
Let your imagination run wild at Devrent Valley, where the natural rock formations resemble various animals and shapes. This magical landscape offers an opportunity for creative photography and playful exploration as you identify figures like camels, dolphins, and even human faces in the rocks.
-PASABAG OPEN AIR MUSEUM ( MONKS VALLEY ) :
Explore the surreal landscape of Pa?aba?, also known as Monks Valley, famous for its remarkable fairy chimneys with distinctive mushroom-shaped caps. Your guide will explain the fascinating geological process that created these formations and the spiritual significance they held for local monks who once lived in seclusion here.
